Reaching out to Woodworkers
Hello all,
I am having a little trouble finding someone to make me a replica of the puzzle box depicted in the photos attached. I am happy of course to pay for materials/time it takes to make it.
There is a huge amount of creative license involved in the creation. Very rough preferences:
1. I would prefer it to be square
2. I am happy for the timber to be anything you have laying around, but would prefer the natural look depicted in the photo.
3. Ideally I would like to pay someone to make multiples of the product if the sample one turns out well/we can come to a suitable arrangement.
I have attached the design.
I encourage you to email me on [email protected] if you have any questions at all or post here. If you have any suggestions on businesses I can approach around Sydney (preferable due to my location) however more than happy to cast a wider net.
With the kindest of regards,
Mitchell King

Hi Mitchell
Hi Mitchell.
I did open the PDF and look at the plans etc.
I get it that this is a puzzle box.
Here's what I think you might be best off doing... perhaps, (it's just a suggestion).
I suspect that, if someone with the right ply sheet perhaps or some kind of Valwood solid timber sheet Forest Products Commission: Education: Products from trees: Laminated products maybe & a CNC controlled flat bed router... could create the right cutting files for this.... their machine could cut out say 2 or 3 sheets of all the pieces you'd need to make up a coupe dozen of these yourself maybe?
I would think with accurately cut pieces the assembly shouldn't be too difficult.
That might prove maybe to be a time and cost effective way to make these (depending how you value your own time to put them together).
Another "option" for you if for example you didn't mind them made from some kind of plastic, might be to 3D print them where instead of laminating up 3 pieces for each side... they are 3D printed in one piece with all the interlocking steps of the puzzle integrated into a single piece of plastic.
I believe that 3D printers aren't that dear to buy now - (but the plastic feed stock 3D printer cartridges for them might still be a little costly).
In essence you could print the pieces out in your home ready to assemble - no actual labor content at all.
Just a couple of suggestions mind you.
