do you recognise this tool
I was going through my father's shed yesterday and came across this
I don't think it's ever been used
Does anyone know what it is or is used for?
The cylindrical handle is metalregards from Alberta, Canada

Ian only thing I can come up with is from the old Bug Catcher kits when we were kids it was used for trapping then sliding a cardboard piece under to drop it into the jar.
Other than that a scoop

Not sure what it was, but it could become an overhead floating guard on a router table being used as a shaper table.

Agreed with Mic and Robyn, That looks like a bit guard for a router table to me too.

Thanks Mick and Robyn and Pete
that would make sense. Dad has a Delta router/shaper.
I'll look through his stuff -- he should still have the instructions. If not I'll be back with another question
I thought it was a router bit guard but couldn't see how it would mount on either the Delta shaper or his makita router. I suspect there's another part to the guard that I'm yet to find or identify.
BTW
I know opinions on the Delta router-shaper are mixed.
the depth adjustment can be finicky, but once adjusted dad and I found it preferable to a table mounted routerregards from Alberta, Canada
