Default Recommendation needed: oscillating spindle sander

Well, I thought I had every sanding solution I'd ever need. Seems I don't.

An upcoming project has me making quite a few detailed coves and curvey bits, so a spindle sander is on the menu.

I saw DesK sold his Jet, which would have been nice to pick up cheap but alas it was not to be...searched the forum and there is little mention.....

    SO!

What do I buy people? A cheap Triton for $220? Or a Jet for $540 or is there some other beastie that offers great value?

Should I just make a table for my big drill press and move the handle periodically (set on Real Slow)?

I think we need to accommodate paper rolls here too....sandpaperman?

    G'Day Evan,
I've had the Hare & Forbes "Bobbin Sander" which looks like many others but for me making toys it serves me well.
Got it on one of there half yearly special for 20% off normal price.
I think March is a "specials" month for them?...
I have seen some deals on the forum about buying bulk replacement sleeves,
but to date I haven't used all the ones I originally bout [4 sets plus one in the box].
    Cheers crowie

G'Day Specialist, I wouldn't say it's noisy at all, no worse than my pedestal drill or bandsaw.....
The vacuum cleaner I have running & connected to the sander is way noisier... Cheers, crowie

I have the Jet version. A great tool and well worth the investment.
It's very quiet when running. I have a shop vac and clearvue mini cyclone hooked up to it and it does a good job of dust collection.
It's really handy. I often find myself giving something a quick sand as I work because it's always set up ready to go.
I haven't used the other ones but the larger CI table on the Jet is good to work on. Plenty of room to manoeuvre pieces around.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Thanks for that, I am thinking about getting one and didn't want a screamer.
