    Default Recycled Jarrah - Foodsafe?

    Hi All,

    I have a lot of old jarrah from a demolished patio. Built in Perth in the mid 80s.

    I'm thinking of using some of it to make chopping boards but am worried the wood might be treated and toxic.

    Appreciate any guidance.

    I'd be very surprised if it was treated, Jarrah is more than durable enough on its own. Just make sure you fill any cracks and nail holes with resin before you oil the board as you don't want bits of food getting stuck in there.

    Thanks mate. So you mean it's unlikely jarrah was ever treated even for outdoor use for a patio?

    (Also, I just noticed, even though I joined exactly 10 years ago, this was my first post ever!! Thanks for the welcome Crowie)
