Renovating a Kitchen Bench Top
Hi. My oiled (probably tung or linseed) kitchen bench top is in bad condition and I'd like to strip the finish off, clean it up and refinish it.
It would be difficult to sand because of the hob, sink etc.
Is there something that will strip off an oiled finish?
What's a good thing to refinish it with? I'd like it to look like Danish oil, but that's hard to repair.Cheers, Glen

It won't just be the oil finish that's looking all scruffy - I doubt that any solution short of sanding will bring back its former glory. Not removing the sink will give you issues with (whatever) finish not being sound at the join, the place that is most likely to trap water.
A suggestion for stripping the oil would be nappy cleaner like Napisan - check the renovate forum threads on how to clean a deck for re-coating.
