Default Resawing box stock on the table saw

I logged some time out in the COLD shop yesterday.

I’ve never resawn on the table saw before, but it went pretty well. It’s a lot more accurate than the set-up I have been using on the band saw. I’ve got a set of Carter guides that need to be installed on the band saw, so we’ll see how I feel after the upgrade is done. I wouldn’t use the table saw for slicing veneer though. Anyone else done both ways? What was your preference?

For all you cold weather guys...I'm in the far stall of an open three car garage, in Minnesota. There is an electric heater that really jacks up the utility bill! What do you guys do? I was working in about 35 degrees for a couple hours yesterday. Brrrr!

    !
I prefer breaking stuff down on the BS. It wastes less wood and I feel is safer when handling smallish pieces . It is worth while making up whatever jigs/sleds you need for the bandsaw IMHO.
I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

    Hi Pete,
Before I had my bandsaw I had to do all of my resawing using the table saw. In fact all of my early boxes were made by chainsawing tree trunks, dressing by hand, table saw, japanese saw and planing.
I would routinely resaw up to 250mm (10") wide by cutting from both sides with a thin kerf blade on the table saw and then separate the pieces by cutting the remaining web with a handsaw. I found that I could eaily cut to 3mm (1/8") thick but only if I used a japanese saw as the pulling action kept the blade accurately inside the table saw cuts and did not damage the finish left by the table saw blade.
I wouldn't say that I miss those days but there was a great sense of achievement.
