Hello Alex,
I'm not sure what species you're referring to but maybe the Qld DPI site http://www2.dpi.qld.gov.au/hardwoodsqld/7680.html will help. It has information on gluing. Hope this helps.

Helped on a job that was a large Beefwood cabinet & found exactly what you are up against. We used thinners to clean down before gluing & had no problems, even with spray finishing.
It varied form board to board (most had no problems) but there was a few that were a bit recalcitrant! All seemed well when we delivered it to the customer. Dunno about now though.

I've seen it used as fence posts in Western NSW. It was radially split from trees that must've been enormous.......these days anything over a foot thick is a big-ish tree. We pulled a couple up and despite being heavily eroded after the best part of a century in the ground they were still beautifully red inside when cut - burnt in the fire they wept resin like a crumpet full of golden syrup. Shame there wasn't enough solid timber remaining in the posts to exploit....
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.
