Resin fillers - Brisbane area
Hi everyone
I did a search of the forums to see what people use to fill knots and cracks in timber slabs. I'm now a little more confused! We had been using Glasscoat from Bunnies - but it works out to be really expensive to fill cracks in timber.
I have since learnt that the longer cure rate or gel time means I can get the bubbles out that raise to the surface. I also want it to dry clear and sand back to a polish finish like the Glasscoat does.
Where would you send me to get epoxy or clear resin? (be nice).
Envirotex, selley plasticbond, west systems epoxy resin, casting resin, norglass, trojan epoxy.... I don't know which one and where to get it from! Any ideas as to prices?
Your ideas/thoughts would be appreciated! I am after around 4 litres of the stuff. If you've got a favourite supplier, please send me the details!
Cheers
Dan

Boatcraft Pacific @ Loganholme, they'll post the stuff to you and save the cost of driving there too!

1st Glasscoat is the same as Envirotex.
2nd Just use fibreglass resin, cheaper than other stuff you mentioned
3rd For a good result, mix a small bit of black ochre powder into resin.Every day above ground is a good day
Still drinking & driving, but not at the same time

I used Diggers casting resin from Bunnies. I bought it in a 500ml tin - but I think they had a 2 or 4 l tin there too.
You must be filling some serious cracks and knots to use 4l.

Dan, I use Diggers Casting Resin also from Bunnings for all my clear casting work. For the colouring I use pigments and dyes from http://www.solidsolutions.com.au/pig...s_and_dyes.htm
I also use fibreglass resin when mixing with the black pigment as it is cheaper in the large quantities - I've used 3 litres so far on the display unit
