The assembly of pieces shown in Fig 3 of my last post is sliced into eight 20 mm thick slices parallel to the front face. These eight slices, together with a couple of central dark-coloured 40 mm squares, are used to make two cheese boards like this one.

Thanks Rocker. Nice work
I'd would have thought the edges would chip with the orientation of the grain? Maybe an edging strip around the outside if it's a problem?
Might have to have a shot at a variation on the theme I think.

Darryl,
I made the board out of jarrah and rock maple, which are both pretty hard. I don't think chipping would be a problem unless you dropped the board on concrete. Adding a border might lead to cross-grain problems; I doubt if that would be satisfactory.
