Ron Paulk Parf Guide System Mk2
have starting watching this guy. He is more easy to listen to that some of those blowhards that think they are gods gift to amateur woodworkers... but dont get me started.
I procrastinate a lot and the shed is still being changed around... was thinking one of those work benches with dog holes would be good.. Ron does one and promotes the Parf Guide.
Holey toledo batman @ $us199.95 =$au290 Carbatec want $399
which got me thinking and no I have not done a search on here but
how many would love holes as accurate as those?
Does a member here have one and would consider hiring it?
are they worth the $$$?
what else can one do?I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I’m not into the holes (at this stage) but I’ve always thought it would be a good idea to hire such a device out to help recoup the cost. How much would you pay to hire it ? Are there any ways the device can be F’d up /damaged by some nitwit ? Maybe that’s why nobody does it ?

It could be as easy as buying one, using it and then selling at at say, a $50 discount.

As poundy says, a search will answer this extensively discussed Q.
I'd lend mine to a trusted local, but wouldn't hire it out. It's a precision tool, and I wouldn't risk it in unknown hands

Ten+ years ago I made an assembly bench with 3/4" holes on 4" centres, drilled quite accurately. It was not difficult - I used a piece of peg-board as my template.
Peg-board has holes arranged in both perpendicular and diagonal rows. The horizontal and vertical holes are spaced 1" apart, so each fourth hole is 4" distant. The holes are 3/16" diameter. And I used 25mm MDF for the bench. After 10 years I think it is worth paying a little extra for the extra thickness and stability.
My technique was as follows:
- texticolour a line through every fourth horizontal and vertical row of holes. This gives us our 4" grid.
- clamp peg-board securely onto MDF table top.
- tap a 3/16" brad point bit through each "gridded" peg-board hole. This accurately marks centres for dog holes.
- Remove peg-board.
- With 3/4" forstner bit drill out all dog holes.

The above table is set on the steel frame of an old office utility desk and uses precisely one sheet of MDF for the top and apron.
After ten years I am still very pleased with the result.
If I was doing it again, then I would get a local joinery shop to supply, cut and CNC drill the holes.
