Default safety lid for childs toy box

hi every one, I am wanting some advice please on how I should go about making the lid on my newest granddaughters new wooden toybox safe so that it will not drop down and cause injury, thought about using a ram of some sort like on the bonnets of cars or tailgates, etc. or even have a front load type but not sure how to go about that, any help or suggestions or photos etc would be very much appreciated. regards peter

    Hi checkerflight'

I made a toy about a year ago and I used lid stays from Bunnings they are
about $17 each. The lid stays can be adjusted to the speed that you want the lid to close and I used a magnet catch to help to pull it shut for the last bit.The person I made it for they are still happy with it and the stays are still working. Those bonnet ones Bunnings do have them for about $10 a packet I reckon they be alright to.I hope that helps.

    Cheers Graham.

One of the things I do with toy boxes is leave the height of the front and side 10 mill lower than the back. The two front corners are the same height as the back of the box. see rough sketch of the the front.

    Hope this helps.
