I bought some cloth backed sandpaper at the Melbourne working with wood show. I can't remember who I got it from, but I never understood what good abrasive was like before this. It might cost 4 times as much, but it is 10 times as good, and last 20 times as long as the stuff you buy at Bunnings. I am definately a convert to the good stuff now.

You just have to have the right application for Prager sandpaper, then it works quite well.

In my case the ex wanted me to pick up some sandpaper for her - so Prager was a match made in heaven!

Sometimes, it is the right product for the job!!

I'm very fond of SIA SIAFast paper, I think it's similar to that ridiculously expensive 3M Sandblaster stuff you can get at Bunnings, but at around 80c a sheet (IIRC.)
Bunnings has Norton's papers for various power sanders.

United Tools (Toolmart etc) carries SIA. Probably, other Bosch outlets too as Bosch owns SIA.

I've bought Norton's flat sheets at paint shops.

One could also check out the local automotive accessories outlets.

I have bought rolls of colour coded grit form Hardware for Creative Finishes
Rolls of cloth backed grit from The Sandpaper Man
    And hardware from Elraco
Every one of them have great service both on the phone and mailing and their prices are very competitive .
I do not consider it an inconvenience to cut my paper to size nor punch the holes for my power sanders, the savings make it more than worth it..
I will never even consider buying from anyone else again.

    Default Sandpaper quality

    Hi Strungout,

Without mentioning any trade names the product you refer to is absolute rubbish and in my view its a clear attempt by its simlilar appearance to lean on the Norton trade name which is the paper of choice for me. Interestingly Norton is widely available in Hobart at hardware and paint shops but at silly prices compared to the folk below

The Sandpaper Man who is a key advertiser on this web site is a supplier of Norton in a very wide range of formats and his prices are about 35% below retail and offers small quantities also. You will find him under 'Finishes etc'. Theres a comprehensive catalogue there.

    Regards Old Pete
