Sash window runners - Options?
Hi
I am looking to see what options (ones that work) are available for Sash Window runner systems
We have on old 1930's house which has the traditional Sash cords and weight systems and are extending the house and will be adding a lot of sash windows.
My Joiner uses the Whitco system which I am not a fan of as I really dont like the exposed plastic pipe and runners. He said he is happy to use whatever I want so now looking to try and find other options.
Does anyone know of any other double hung systems around that work well and have the mechanism concealed?
Thanks in advance

Personaly I don't beleive any body has come up with a system that beats the sash cord and weights, most Carpenter/Joiners will try and talk you out of them due to the cost, or they don't want to spend the time, or most of all they don't realy know how to manufacture them

I agree that weights and cords seem to be the best method. I tell clients this but the extra labour as well as the fact that a set of pulleys and weights don't leave much change out of $200 a window compared with $30 for spirals mean that unless it's for heritage counsel or national trust we don't do many cords and pulleys.

I agree Sashes and weights are nice but the extra cost per window has to be a consideration (not so much the cost for the Weights and pulleys more the extra labour in the overall construction cost) As I have 13 Sash windows going in I do need to be mindful of that
I have been trawling the web and came across these
Duplex Adjustable - Wood Windows Sash Balance
Seems to be a good system and cost effective both to install and purchase. Would anyone have any experience with these type of Balances? I have seen old 1950's windows with something similar in Salvage yards but wonder how they perform in real life.
Thanks for your help

In the window and glazing section of the Lincoln sentry website there are several options. I don't seem able to post a link from this new fangled IPad
