    Default Saving your time and effort ! ! ! ! !

    Hi All,

I'm not sure about you guys but the whole stripping back of timber in my opinion is not the most fun job in the world.

This is where i may have all your problems solved. I am related to a guy who has been running a timber stripping business for quite some time now and is achieving amazing results with amazing time. I can not here reveal his process or details but if anyone is interested please send me an email for further details.

He is into stripping all things timber to include antiques, doors, architraves, skirting's, furniture and the list goes on.

I hope this will bring some hope and joy to some of you.

If he is getting amazing results in amazing time one wonders what sorts of chemicals or processes are involved and how much guts the process takes out of the wood. After seeing how some of these characters operate I would not trust any commercial stripper with an antique piece. A few years ago I had 6 oregon doors stripped commercially. When I got them back they were a sad light grey colour that had penetrated a long way into the timber. It took a lot of work to restore them after that.

Depending on the size of the job I actually don't mind stripping as it's not usually a major part of many restorations. It's also a satisfaction and control thing - I like to be in charge of the complete restoration process.

I think this post will probably be moved very soon.

Without wishing to sound too harsh, perhaps, Our Saviour, you might contact the owners of these forums to see what commercial arrangements can be made to advertise businesses and services. It costs them a lot of money to run these forums (fora ??? forii???), which is really for woodies exchanging info and chatting with each other about our hobbies. Some are "in the business", but try to keep that at arms length while they contribute.

But if I'm out of line Neil, welcome to the forums Yoursaviour

Mate, with an approach like this on your first post, and your bombastic username, underlined by your secretive approach, you should have expected responses like these.
