Default What screws for hardwood table corner brackets?????

    Hi all,

trying to finish of my tallowood slab table this weekend, see thread in "big stuff". Can anyone help with what sort of screw i should be using to attach the corner brackets??

The brackets will be the same tallowood, about 45mm by 45mm an i guess i will predrill the holes and counter sink the heads. There was a red gum table thread somewhere with some similiar to what i'm trying to achieve. Thanks in advance.

Countersunk 10 gauge of suitable length. Lubricate tip of thread with candle wax or bar soap before insertion.

    cheers mate.

Would you predrill the hole first? and as for screw type, brass, metal etc?

I would always pre-drill the hole for any screw.... Unless you needed a particular look for an exposed screw, I'd just use steel.... I actually really like Buildex's treated pine screws, they have a greeny/grey colour, unobtrusive and good quality.

I'd use brass if it were exposed, then I'd pre-drill and pre-screw with the same sized steel screw before hand screwing in the brass screw.
