Does this mean that somewhere in the multiverse there is a planet populated entirely by tape measures, which have all made their way home through wormholes in the space-time continuum?

Have you looked in your dust/useless scrape waste bin? Could have accidentally fallen in.

My measuring Tape is just another thing on the list of things that go missing from/in the shed. Bunnies had 8m metric only Stanley tapes for sale at $9.98 for quite some years. They were made in Thailand. I like to have 2 or 3 on the go at any time because they (any brand of tape) can fail with no notice. Over the years I may have bought 10 or so that there was always one ready to carry on if one had failed or if I couldn't find one of the 3 on the go.

Tapes are not the only things that go missing. I will be working on a small job with a number of parts that need attention of sorts, then between taking these parts to different machines they will go missing. On more that one occasion after spending time trying to find said article I end up getting the wife out to "find" the offending article. On these occasions after giving her a description of the article she invariably says nearly straight away....."is this it?". Yep under my nose the whole time. BUT there are times when doing something that requires a particular tool and you instantly go to it even though only one percent of it is poking out from something covering it up.....go figure. This is just another part of getting old is damned annoying

Just a very small tip....on a Stanley knife that hangs on a shadow board I have attached 100mm of leather bootlace to it. Its amazing, when looking for it the boot lace gives it away long before I actually see the knife.....go figure
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

I sincerely hope so, it might provide the answer for the question of how long is a cosmic string

Tape measures are something you can never have enough of. I have five on the go, fluoro green, orange and yellow ones but they seem to disappear despite their colour, so I can share your frustration.

Currently looking for my roll of blue painters tape; it's got to be around somewhere!

One of the most handy things that someone uses are tape measures. Would be better to have a few around.

If it was a feet and inches model it might have gone for a walk.

The new one has landed in the workshop so I guess it is inevitable the old one will be found shortly.

Why do I keep thinking of this thread when I use a tape measure?? And to make it worse it was in my hand (while measuring and thinking of this) and then within 30 seconds I couldn't find it!!! I felt like a goose

After looking for ages to find something I always get my wife to look. Another pair of eyes will find it straight away.

Gosh - imagine the hassle of having to hide away all the stuff she doesn't know you've bought every time she enters your shed??

    "What's that?"
    "A plane, dear..."
    "And that?"
    "Just a different plane, sweetness..."
"Why do you need so many planes??"

My husband asks whether he can come in - but rarely does. When he does he just stands there looking and says "Wow".

    Default 'Tis found!

Hey Chris, I found the missing tape! Maybe a possum got into your workshop and pinched it.
As I live on the other side of the Royal National Park to you, and possums like to travel across tree canopies, I have put 2 and 2 together so to speak, so now you can blame the travelling possum
