    Hi Jim,

Love the idea, It there a special vinegar, Cider, White, Brown, Malt??

Got some old blade that I just can't throw away so I'm up for giving it a go.

    Cheers

    Steve

    G'day Steve,
I used the cheapest vinegar I could find. I have found so far that one lot of vinegar has done three blades for me. I have no idea if others work better or not. Maybe you could experiment and let us all know what happens. I have found it better to wire brush the blades to get rid of as much crud as possible, and wash the blades after in water as the will rust very quickly. I have also sprayed them after washing, with Inox spray. It may also be beneficial to add a bit of bi-carb to the washing water to help neutralise the acid. Not much science here, but with hardened teeth saw blades and no other way to rejuvenate them, there is not many alternatives without access to a saw doctor, other than buy new blades.

Jim, have you tried this with hardpoint handsaws? I don't currently have any to practice on, would be interesting if it worked.

    Cheers

    Peter,
Short answer... no. I do not own a hard point handsaw, simply because I have many hand saws left over from my trade days and I still sharpen my own. No real reason it won't work though.
