That's not a shed its acreage.

Lucky bugger, but what's with the Tonka toys?

    G'day Bodgy,

If you're referring to the toys on the shelves left of the bench, then only one, the dozer on the bottom shelf is a Tonka - used to play with it in my sandpit. All the others are wooden toys my late dad made for me when I was a kid.

They're too good and special to be put away so I have on permanent display for myself.

    G'Day Waldo,
I have a 6mtr x 7mtr (approx) colorbond shed and the summers where nearly unbearable, so last summer I fitted two of those "whirlybird" roof ventilators (mill finish) and it has reduced the heat buildup and increased ventilation 100%, inside I made a box to fit the internal hole of the ventilator and fitted a plastic snap-in open/close type grill, so it can be closed in the cooler months and opened in the warmer one's. It was the best $160 x 2 I have spent in my shed for comfort!...This summer I'll put up some of that "vapor-lok' insulation (left-overs from the reno work I am currently doing), that should make a huge difference!...

P.S. They cost nothing to run.....
P.P.S. Nice set-up in the shed!...

    G'day Savage,

A whirlybird has been on my mind for a while now and might get to installing sometime.

    G'day Wild Dingo,

The SWMBO has already said if I collect too much machinery and can't fit things in, it won't be her car that'll be kicked out but it'll be mine. And I'm kinda partial to keeping mine in the shed, although sometimes you can't see it for the dust - although the Dusty has solved that problem (should wash the car sometime, hasn't been washed since June)

    Have fun shopping.

    Thumbs up

A shed well deserving the seal of approval, and some nice looking old machines. Congrats.

Congrats Waldo. If you do run out of room, you can do (if you have the room) what HMBO did - build a carport at the front of the shed. Our cars now stay outside. At least I've been "allowed" to fill one car spot in the shed with the good wood

    cheers

    G'day Waldo,

...Can I assume this means you don't want the duct off-cuts? Which reminds me; I saw the bloke about that glue on the way home last Wed. but he was down to the dregs himself. I've some in a jar down at the island which I'll pick up this time 'round. Shoulda dropped in on the bloke on the way down and saved us both a week.

Anyways, nice shed! Makes mine look like the sad excuse it is, as you already know. Think I'll go off into a corner and sulk for a while...

    G'day Skew ChiDAMN!,

Yeah, I think I'm all right with how the Dustty is working and sucking. But, that doesn't mean improvements can be made, I'm open to the idea of putting a length of PVC off the collar of the Dusty before the wye. To see it working in the flesh would be of more benefit to see if it's worth doing.

No problems on the yellow stuff, I've spent 10 minutes here and there over the last week getting that blasted liquid nails of the face of the sander - knew at the time it was the wrong thing to do, but thought as I didn't have any 1431 I'd try it out anyway. Keep me posted about the jar.

There's no sad shed setup, only what you do in it. It's my skills that let me down a bit - but learning as I go.

I should be the one sulking. Don't have a router, my wood lathe is up in NSW, don't have 13" thicknesser like others, don't have a TS-10HB, a RAS, a #4 or #5 plane - but I'm working on these things.

OK, I'm hoping to get most of the PVC runs laid out later this week, so I'll know what offcuts I have then. The joints are gonna have to wait. [sigh]

I know for a fact there'll be a benefit in moving the wye away, I've been doing a fair bit of thicknessing this week and have been suffering major blockages every few mins. Even simply checking the wye after ea. board before it blocks shows that it's accumulating in the blanked off piece.

I've a 44gal drum w/quik-lok top standing by, now all I have to do is decide whether to convert it into a seperator or a true cyclone... whichever I go to, it's going between the dusty and the first wye to give it a straight run.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a RAS unless you're planning on doing some major cuts... I reckon a crosscut sled for the TS'd be better for them and a compound mitre-saw fr the rest. Powered, of course. As for the rest, every tradie knows you can get by with only a 12" shifter, sharpened screwdriver, 4lb sledgie and a silastic gun.

Still jealous of the shed though... just think: I'd have the same floorspace if I threw all that #@$%#$% wood out! Which raises the question: you've got all those lovely tools laid out but where's the clamp & timber racks? Oooer! Wot a giveaway that it's a new shed! Almost as bad as the lack of sawdust under the benches... but that too will change, eh?

    G'day Skew ChiDAMN!,

I knew someone would post about the lack of dust etc. on the floor, I was tempted to take a shot of all the dust and shavings prior to the photo shoot, just to prove it's a working shed.

Depends which comes first the RAS (be really handy for some cuts I reguarlly do, have to make do with planning at the moment to get my 45º cuts on my cheapo Indian planer - ohh for a Dewalt RAS ) or TS, most likely the TS.

Timber racks if only I could work out in my head where I eventually want to put everything. All my clamps are behind the metal vise on the stand to the right of my bench - 4 beaut heavy old Paul Call F clamps, 3 smaller Bessey F clamps and 3 pipe clamps. Yeah I know not enough clamps.

Did some darkside stuff yesterday with my little shoulder plane, man it can take off a whisker thin shaving.

Be interested to see your Dusty when it's set up to see the benefits of the extension before the wye.

Waldo, I like that mate, the comment about your "toys"!

And very nice shed - wish that mine was as big as that!

    Cheers!
