Shoeshine Box
Hi all
Can anyone help me out with a pattern for a shoeshine box? I've got a couple of ideas for a design but I'm after something a bit "genuine, old fashioned" (praps also with artwork?). Trying some of the sites that I know (and general Googling) hasn't turned up anything so far.cheers,
Bosun

As luck would have it, I just finished this one this week. Don't ask for any plans or anything, I just made it up as I went. My first hand cut dovetails on the base too!

Dan, first effort or not there's nothing wrong with those dovetails.
I take it that you made this box for SWMBO so she could keep your shoes shiny?

Steve, The top one looks smaller due to the top of the base being chamfered after the DT's were cut.

What a good idea for something to make.
Might even have a go at some upolstering, nice dark green leather seat, brass round head nails, brass hinges and oiled Jarrah. Should look alright.
I'm going to steal these designs and shamelessly claim them as original.Bodgy

You can also sing as you shine the shoes, try this quickly.
I saw Susy sitting in a shoe shine shop
She sits and shines and shines and sits

Try saying this out loud:
Shine Sasha's shoes,
Shine Sasha's shoes,
Shine Sasha's shoes...Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Many thanks everyone, particularly Zenwood. The "footnotes" are a real challenge - enough to give one a permanent lithp.
Now armed with good info from all your good efforts - will leg it off to the shed, boot up the router and make a box that will last.cheers,
