will this work? silenced compressor/dryer in a cabinet with mechanical filter
I am getting a new compressor and dryer delivered, been told the dryer needs to be in the cleanest place possible. best to be outside the workshop in a shed.
I will do this eventually but for the time being (yeah we heard this many times before) its going to be in the workshop, therefore I have came up with the following sketch
the compressor and dryer will be in a 2400 x 2100 x 1000 cabinet, the air filter is this filter:

The compressor is Chicago Pneumatic CPRS B7000, the silenced 7.5kw with 500 litre tank. I wanted the version with onboard dryer but I have to wait for 3 months which I cant wait so I bought the one without dryer... and an auxiliary dryer, Ceccato CDX12 will be fitted to it.
here is the proposal..

the air inlet is the filter inlet and 1 air outlet/grill, this can be a fan; will this setup work without causing premature failure of any machines? the dryer needs ventilation and clean air. I was thinking about also make an opening at top of the cabinet with a cover so if there is any dust at all it will mostly sets on the cover, adjacent to the cover is a few vents on side of the cabinet for hot air to escape, for the air outlet maybe a small fan or just a grill ?
any comments welcomed

Did you think about just ducting external (i.e. relatively clean) air through the enclosure. That's all I have on my compressor enclosure. The air is driven by a 240V, 4", 100CFM unrestricted fan. I have a temp monitor on the outlet so I can see what is going on temp wise.

I'm not sure what temperature you reach in summer in Auckland but another small reason for using the external air option is that ALL the heat from the air filter motor and compressor will be dumped into your workshop.
BTW that is another reason for having dust extractors outside a shed.

I have a small "Pancake" oil-less type compressor, 4 gallon (15L approx.) tank. It is not a heavy duty nor high volume compressor. I use it to run nail guns, fill bicycle/automotive tyres and an occasional blow gun.
It has been in a cabinet sharing space with a small welding unit. I've not worried much about the compressor and it cycles on as needed. My chop saw resides on the top of the cabinet. The compressor is about 14 years old and has resided in the cabinet for at least 10 years.
The temperature in the garage (shed) rarely gets above 95°F.
