As to pyrography, no there isn't a dedicated forum for that, but that doesn't mean there can't be if there is enough interest.

If you type "pyrography" in the search box there are quite a few hits, so have a read and see if there is something of interest to you.

Perhaps showing some of your own work will prompt other members to join in the discussion.

Nice to see you here as well as on some other sites that we both frequent .

I have been in this site for some years just as a lurker with a screen name and decided to re-join with my real name .

I am adding pyrograpphy to my other list of hobbies that I am in to and as of yet have only ordered a burner with various tips and pens . Should arrive in about ten days and I will give it a try .
I am actually looking for a good dedicated pyrography site at this time but will check the search box here. Thanks for that information as to where to find messages of that nature here .

I finally got my avatar picture to show but I'll be darned if I can get a signature link to show here to my PictureTrail Albums site showing some the the other things that keep me out of miscief (sometimes) LOL .

I have ordered my pyrography burner and supplies and that art form is just going to be an extension of my other hobbies . I have no idea if I can do pyrography or not but I am going to give it a try.

I will try putting ( what should be a signature link} into this message but it sure won't come up as a signature when putting it in the User CP like it will in other sites. .

When I posted this earlier the avatar was not yet in place.
Perhaps it took some time for it to appear.

My pyrography burner arrived this morning so I tried a couple burnings right out of the box to see if I would be able to do it or not.
First one was a Betty Boop pattern from a Tom Mullane scrollsaw pattern. Tried it because I wanted something basic to see if I could follow long curves like the circle and straight ones like the stem of the glass. .

I found it quite fun and easy for my first try. Did this one this morning .

Then this afternoon I did this from a Gary Crosby pattern . The hole in one tooth and one over to the left as well as the nail holes in the Betty Boop one is just because these are first practice pieces so I was using scraps of wood. Both are 8' x 11' size

I have so very much to learn about doing pyrograpphy but I am sure I am going to enjoy the learning process.

Right out of the box on the first day.
I had never had a burning pen in my hand in my life before. .
Have done some scroll sawing as shown in my signature link and find that 'some' scroll saw patterns can be used for burning as well.

I am finding wood burning much more relaxing to do than scroll sawing out thousands of fretwork holes after drilling all the tiny blade holes first and there is no sawdust to contend with.
Another nice thing is that it only takes a few square feet of space to work with pyrography in the warm house during the cold winter months instead of heating the shop.


BTW.
My messages about my avatar and signnature at the beginning of this thread turned out to be the fact that administration reviews the first few messages of a new member before them being allowed to appear so the link and avatar were slow showing up. Also they do not allow editing in that time frame so I could not edit anything.
I now have my edit button in future posts and all is well. But I have no edit button in those first few so cannot remove some that I would liked to have after I got things working.
I have been a member of this site for many years under a screen name and it is just recently that I re-registerd with my real name.

I can appreciate the need for warmth in your climate. So it's a good hobby

Can't be too careful these days.

They look fantastic, period. When one then realises that they are your first go at pyrography, it makes it even more amazing. You must have a very steady hand
