Found an old broken one which I fixed (just needed the locking nut replaced). I dont have it in front of me but the brand is "Johnson" (I think) says something like "patent USA" on it. It looks like a cheap one black plastic handle but it doesnt move when tightening it down. Will try this out before deciding if I should buy a new one.

This Irwin unit most likely locks using the triangular “screw” in the base. I say this due to other makes with a similar base design that do lock.

A search of the Web shows that just about every man and his dog is now using those triangular locking screws at the base so I guess, when buying, the main difference to look for may now be the thickness of the blade
