Slight OT, Math.
Only slightly, because this determines where I put the door in my wall.
Take position X, and then move to Y, 12ft forward. You're at 0º
Take a straight line to the left, from Y. Move 12ft. You're at 45º
.... How far left do you have to move, for 30º?

6.928 ft which is 6 ft 11 inches tan 30 = x/12 => 12 x tan 30 = x.
