Does anyone know how to remove the smell of old dried milk from timber?

Are you able to make a solution based on some water, baking soda and possibly a bit of vinegar and rub it with that?
We need more info really - is the timber finished or raw? Will it be machined down yet (if so, the surface may be where the smell is, and might be removed as part of that process)? Whilst we know it's timber, what is it and where is it?

A coat of shellac might seal in the stink?

I'm very curious, how did it get so much milk on it and how long ago?

It's timber from a circa 60's/70's cot and these parts are the cot side rails, the side slats however do not stink which is odd, if the timber is supposed to stink like Fence furniture said, then it should all stink but the 40x10x400 don't so it's odd. But also strange that the pieces don't stink before machining......

Brett just confirmed what I suspected but I had to ask the obvious question first.
