hi everyone, im looking at building a wing chun training dummy, however im not sure where to get the main log i need. i will need a log of solid wood at least 9 inches (21 centimeters) in diameter and about 5 to six feet long. i live in endeavour hills in melbourne, does anyone know where i should go? the quality of wood is not that important simnle pine will do as i want to build one cheaply first then if i can actually get it right ill look at making a better one down the track. thanks!! .

I would contact your local tree loppers and a carton should see you right.

Be careful what you ask for. A neighbor alerted me of a cypress being felled down the street. I asked the foreman if I could have a few feet. He said I could have it all. Even delivered it to my driveway. (Saved them the tipping fee).

The one in the foreground is about 2ft x 10ft.

    Cheers,
    Joe

That's a big cypress! Now just sink those underwater for about 50 years and that stuff will be worth about $20/bd.ft.
