Default Sometimes you just gotta do something different

I’ve been working on a pair of scotch cabinets off and on for quite some time now. Last weekend I made some custom copper feet for them from some copper bar that I had leftover from a previous project.

This weekend I wasn’t in the mood for sanding so I made a copper and wood necklace for the wife instead. Made just using angle grinder, linisher, square file and 600/1200 sandpaper.
Quite happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect but hey.

I really like the necklace but not sure about the practicality of copper feet for a cabinet.

Even if the feet are lacquer or epoxy coated it's could eventually scrape off and the feet will then go green and mark the floor especially if it's on a floor that is going to be washed.

A layer of something inert like rubber or plastic might help?

If designers always did what was practical, the world would be a dull place indeed! They will have felt pads underneath to prevent them scratching whatever floor they are on, so I don't think that will be a problem.

The wife is an interior stylist and I’m very much the practicalist, we don’t always see eye to eye!! Lol

    Love the copper work though![emoji106]

If your wife has arthritic ears, then those ear-rings should do the trick.

Haha no arthritis yet, she’s only 38.

A high polish followed by a spray of Selleys Incralac should protect the floor as long as you're not tempted to drag it around. A flash of copper sandwiched between two pieces of wood looks pretty good.

Maybe, but at least we wouldn't get people sending us designs with panel thicknesses of zero and doors that hinge off nothing

Yeah I agree. Metal and timber together really does something for me.

Haha yeah, I think good design is all about balancing form and function.
