Default Source for hardwares (small hinges etc) in Melb?

I'm looking for some small (brass?) hinges for a small box I just made.
What's a good place for things like this in Melbourne?

The best place for them ( and I think the only one) was two weeks ago at the Timber & Working with wood show held in Melbourne where Veneer Inlay had a stand selling their specialised box making hardware. Unfortunately you'll have to wait for next year's show.

Don't know of any other place in Melbourne.

Mcjing was also at the show and had lots of box making supplies but they are in Sydney.
They are a forum sponsor as well.

Hi Verba Tim, shall I call you Tim??

    Depends on what you want.

Strap and 90 degree stop hinges you can only get from Veneer Inlay Australia at present. (See Sturdee's post.)

Brass butt hinges you should be able to get to as small as 25mm from your local hardware.
Quadrant Hinges and butt hingesyou can get from Anton Gerner or GBrown antiques. Anton is in Hawthorn and G Brown is in Malvern Road. You just have to look at their cattle dog and you drool. They also sell hinges to nail on the back of your box, (as do Bunnings (so long as the box lid isn't much heavier than a match!)
Prices vary enormously!! Veneer Inlay are very quick to ship. Two days max usually.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Rob

I've dealt with Anton Gerner, Graeme Brown Antiques and Veneer Inlays (aka Boxmakers Brassware), and had good service from all.

    Thanks guys!
Some great info there. I might chase up a shipping option.
