Default Where to source good laminate

Hey everyone, I need to make some sacrificial fences for my table saw. Recently I've been following Ask Woodman on YouTube and he shows how to build the ones he sells. Auxiliary Table Saw Fence - VerySuperCool Tools

He recommends not using melamine because it's too soft. He recommends laminate by wilsonart. I have found wilsonart product here in Australia, their local rep is going to have a look what small quantities are available and get back to me.

In exploring all options, I'm curious to know where everyone here gets good laminate veneer from in Australia?

    Love to hear your thoughts.

I'd consider using formply for that. Tough, hard-wearing, and suitable for jigs and similar. Easily available in small sizes for cheap from big-green.

Laminate buy Wilsonart is Melamine, find a cabinet Maker that makes kitchens/Bench tops etc, they will have truck loads of off cuts.

    No it's not.

Follow the link in the original post, it's compact laminate faced with melamine; basically a solid sheet of phenolic resin. Very expensive, and very hard to machine.

    Insulcut Products

Thanks everyone for the input. HVG the NSW distributor of wilsonart are apparently moving away from the compact stuff because it's so hard to machine as mentioned above. Part of the issue is that they have it on a substrate that is 13mm thick rather than just the laminate.

The local rep found about 2m² of their other laminate which is 0.8mm thick for me and very hard / durable as well. It's about $50. I'll let you know how it goes, I'll be sure to check out that link above as well.

Ok it is faced with melamine that is the part that will get the wear, standard laminate that is used in built ins etc. is all faced with Melamine.
