Source of veneers? - Sydney Inner West
My son lives in Drummoyne (Sydney Inner West) and needs to know where he can get small quantities of veneer for a project he is designing. He is a keen and accomplised designer and is prototyping a bedside lamp - he wants to laminate the parts out of veneer.
Can anyone suggest a supplier conveniently close and good to deal with for small quantity buyers?Terry Gosschalk "He who dies with the most tools wins."

I noticed when I was there last weekend that my local Bunnings (Belrose) had packs of veneer for sale. I hadn't noticed it before so I don't know whether they normally have it or not. I haven't used it before either so I don't know how good it is or what woods are available. It might be worth your son checking with his local Bunnings though.
Regards,
Ian.

For laminating construction parts and not surface laminating. You would be better off cutting your own veneers using a bandsaw. That way you could use pretty much any timber you can source.

Hi Terry,
Get him to try Anagote Timbers in Marrickville. If they don't carry it, then they most certainly could point him in the right direction.
Veneercraft at Padstow would carry it, and with the M5, it's probably 15 minutes drive away plus tolls.
Cheers,

If your son is not too fussy about wood species then send him to Reverse Garbage in Marrickville - seen some veneer there - cheap.

Hi Terry,
You could try Brims Panelling, address below. They carry a very good range of high grade veneer and are not too expensive. If I recall Fairfield isn't that far from Drummoyne, but its been a few years and countries since then.
