    Default Speed Cutting Dovetails

Tripped over this guy cutting dovetails ... rather quickly.
I beat the Dovetail Speed Run Record (2021) - YouTube

Reminds me of the time that I met Chris Vesper at a woodwork show in Hobart over twenty years ago.

Chris asserted that wood workers should warm up every morning before cutting wood. After all, opera stars sing scales, professional athletes do a warm up routine ....
"I cut dove tails." said Chris.
He had a lot of pre-prepared pine, about 60mm square and 5 mm thick - from salvaged fruit boxes? He used one piece of timber to mark the depth of cut on another, then cut the pins freehand (No marking out), transferred the lines and then cut the tails, all while talking to me and a couple of others.

I suspect his time was comparable to the above video, but his pace seemed quite leisurely, not rushed.

It blew my mind away at the time.

I recall reading many years ago that if you had a job coming up that needed hand cut DT's then every morning you walk into the workshop you should cut a couple to get your eye in.

Methinks the dude should relax a little.

    His caffeine levels seemed extreme
