    Default Spiral Flush Trim Bits

I need to buy a flush trim bit for trimming some Victorian Ash long grain and end grain. Anyone tried this Carbatec Spiral Upcut Bit with Dual Bearings - 1/2" Diameter | Carbatec?

I bought bits from forumite ALDAV in the past. I think he's still active.

    Cheers

I'm a bit concerned by how far up the shank the flutes are cut; either you end up with the flutes inside the collet (not good), or the bit hanging out further than it needs to (also not good). I'd be more inclined to go for the Carbitool one Spiral Flute Bit with Bearing - Up Cut - Solid Carbide - Carbitool it has a higher helix so you get a better shearing action and you're supporting an Australian manufacturer.

Good advice. Thanks. I'll hold out for a few more days and find the Carbitool cutter.

You can order direct from Carbitool. You may get free shipping depending on the price. Or most good tools shops will order them in for you.

My saw blade sharpener had the Carbitool cutter in stock. Only $30 more than the Carbatec cutter and will do the job nicely.

Just make sure you're getting an up cutting bit. That pic is a down cutting bit. Down cutting can be a handful let me tell ya!
