I wonder how well it would work. I usually dig the stubborn splinters out with my fingernails while in the shower when my skin is soft and juicy. I guess the hot jar of water is doing much the same thing to soften and swell the skin allowing easy extraction but I am skeptical if the vacuum will pull it out.

Bi-carb soda! A pinch with a drop of water then cover with a band-aid. Leave for a few hours or overnight and it will draw it out. Apparently [emoji53]

My late father in law was a chippy and used the corner of a chisel as stated in the link.

Please report back once a hundred extractions are completed using the hot bottle method.

I saw a video of a guy riding a dirt bike, a branch went through his boot at calf height. The boots are plastic coated and it almost come out the other side. It was nasty. [emoji31]

100 extractions! Assuming my math is correct, that'll mean I'll need to get approximately 100 splinters! It'll take donkey's years unless I just jump head first into a blackberry bush.....and for that I'll be needing a payment paid in full before any such silliness occurs. payment will need to be in dollars because we sure as hell know that there won't be any sense cents involved.

I always seem to get splinters in my fingers like happened yesterday. So I don't see how the bottle method would work.

Innovations are those useful things that, by dint of chance, manage to survive the stupidity and destructive tendencies inherent in human nature.

I find it better than most of the improvised splinter digging tools I have used in the past.
