Default Just spotted this guy on youtube - Natsuki Ishitani

I love his style, and I love the videos. No talking, no advertising (other than himself) and just pure talent. And to top it off, I love his designs.

Not sure if this has been posted before, hope not. If you like his style, once you start watching be prepared for that time consuming spiraling depth that goes from one short video into hours of time invested in front of your computer.

Yeah I can play YouTube channels through my TV, I'll often just play his entire playlist. Very relaxing and entertaining to watch and a really high production quality.

I guess we've all seen those amazing youtube videos of Japanese craftsmen doing truly incredible joinery using hand tools only but this gentleman uses a mix of machinery and hand tools much closer to my own mix and so he produces furniture that I really can aspire to match. I mightn't get there but at least it is realistic for me to try.
Another point of interest, and intrigue, to me was the free standing powered circular saw blade where he plunges workpieces into the horizontal centreline of the blade. It is such an elegant solution to cutting tenons that I'm surprised it isn't a readily available power tool although I can only imagine the reaction of the power tool company's solicitors to such a beast!
Im about to watch some more, thanks for posting Pearo.

It looks to be some kind of power take off out of a jointer or table saw.

What intrigued me was the machine that acted like a gigantic plane. It litterally sliced off a thin layer of timber, just like an enormous mechanical Kanna.

I believe its a Marunaka Super Surfacer, what an amazing way to get a planed finish - in a production environment. Here's a video of it in action:

I love Ishitani's designs... sort of like a Japanese shaker style or something....

A beautiful machine. Unfortunately I will most likely have to sell a Kidney to fund the purchase. ( but then again at my age it may only cover the cost of the Blade )

    Regards

I'll go you halves. I did see a smaller and what appeared to be a bench top version in a video posted here some time ago but I haven't a clue where to find it.

WHAT! Halves in Basilg's kidney ?

That's a bit Hannibal Lecter isn't it, even for this forum

A machine like this would cause great consternation on the sharpening forum but probably not 'the dusties'?

Wouldnt it be lovely to have a 'library' of such machines just for the use of the forum.....

I don't believe that two half kidneys will be marketable, but greatly appreciate your offer I will assume that this offer is for you to donate a Kidney, and I get the machine that sounds perfect to me
