    Default deck construction

    Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster.
I am attempting to design a free standing deck around an above ground pool & am struggling to figure out what size members to use and what spacing's to use.
I have sketched it out with 450mm centres for the joists, (using 90mm merbau decking), but I do not know what the how far apart the bearers should be. any advice would be much appreciated on timber sizing and spacing. I am intending on using treated pine for the structural timbers.

    Thumbs up

G'day Beer4me and welcome to the cubby.

Cant' help you with the structural stuphph as I do't know the properties of treated pine in that regard.

Are you going to do it like sub- flooring ie. bearers and joists? Or are you going to do away with the joists.?

The local council should have design parameters for that. Check ' em out.

it depends on the size of your spans, 75x75 posts or 100x100 posts depends on height ,200x 75 as a bearer will span at least 2.7-3.0mtrs as for joists 150 x 50 at 450ctrs these should do a span of 2.1mtrs to 2.4, hope this helps? but it is always good to ask a local builder or the council for a guideline.

The download redirection isn't working. I'll see what I can dig up for you.

I downloaded the program and code last night without any problems. Give it another go and see if the problem has been fixed, if not PM me.

The redirection breaks some download managers apparently. I've forwarded the file via yousendit.com.
