Default Square peg into a round hole. It can be done.

I recently purchased a Wixey WR700 Digital Readout Gauge to install on my Dewalt DW 744 table saw.

After opening the box and looking at the destructions and looking at my saw, I quickly became confused. It looked like a square peg looking for a home in a round hole so consulted with my old mate Mr Google. After reading loads of things, I could not find a single instance of anyone having written, or videoed a "How To" install the WR700 on the DW744 (or DW745.)

To put it mildly, the install was far from straight forward, so when I finished, I decided to write a "How To" myself. Hopefully it may help other poor mug who may find themselves up the same brown creek without a paddle.

I would have posted it on Woodworkers, but its politically incorrect, irreverent, and breaks a heap of forum rules, so I have posted it on my own site. However, I have a link back here for all comments, questions and feedback.

Hope this is acceptable to the moderators.
    Cheers
    Ric

Interesting read, with a warning attached below.

I have previously used the angle brackets that you purchased and the work in static applications. In applications where they are subjected to some vibration (metal to metal bodywork on a ride on mower in my application) they crack accross the bend due to metal fatique wothin a couplw of years. Mentioning this as I anticipate that the saw will have some vibration so the problem may raise its head and look your way. I get about 200hrs of runtime on ROM before the bend fails. The bracket are reinforcing a joint at the the steering column surround of a rear motor 12HP mower.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
