Default Squaring up some timber cupboard door frames

    Hi All,

I have made up some Tassie Oak cupboard doors frames with a rebate in the back for frosted glass inset. Unfortunately the doors are slightly too wide for the carcass and need about 5mm shaved off each side of the door.
I was hesitate to use the electric plane for fear of taking off too much - I never feel I have enough control for fine work with the plane. So I used a belt sander which got the job done - but im not happy - the timber is no longer perfectly square due to me not holding the sander exactly 90 degrees to the job.
Any suggestions for rectifying this? I was thinking of trying to mount the belt sander on its side to a table so I could then run my timber along and achieve a nice square result.
Appreciate any suggestions from the forum....

    Cheers

    Chris

Chris, welcome to the forum. The quickest and easiest way would be to run the doors over a fine toothed table saw. A sliding table would be even better. If you dont have such a weapon available, the only other option would be a hand plane.

Thanks Rustynail. No table saw available unfortunately - just making do with a with hand tools. Might have to give the hand plane a go!

I second that the hand plane would be best to get a square edge, longest plane you have a jointer.
