what stain to choose
Hi all,
I am going to make some built-in-robe and to keep the cost down, i'll use pine(don't like melamine)
However to keep a sort of consistency with the room, the pine has to be stained in a red mahogany colour.
1 week ago, I finished some modular and stackable cubes made of pine to store books.
Again to keep the consistency with the room I had to stained them in a red mahogony colour. I used cabot all-in-one solution (oil based) because this is what I use for the door frames, doors, skirting boards, etc...
However the end result is ugly especially on pine. The door frames, skirting boards, etc.. came out beautifully but this time it is ugly. I don't really mind since it is just cube that will come with me if I move out one day but the built-in-robe cupboards will stay !
Also this all-in-one is oil based polyurethane or something like that and it takes forever to dry.
Is there a stain that I could use on pine so that I can use danish oil after?
if so what is this miraculous product? and where to buy it from?
I have stained my timber floor using wattyl floor stain which is water based and looks like a sort of paste. Could that be used? if so, once it has been applied, what type of protection could I use?
any advices are more than welcome?
Eric
