Staining a pine corner unit
Hi every one, this is my first post and thanks to anyone who can provide any advise.
I have just about finished a pine corner unit and have reached the stage where I am going to attempt to stain it with Cabot's walnut oil based interior stain, I then intend to varnish with a satin finish, I have never used a stain before and what I have heard pine can be a bit tricky when using a dark stain. Any advise would be appreciated.

You are correct pine can be a little bit blochie. It will take up some nice stain in one area and in the next area look like it is pale. Using a sealer coat of say Shellac does help. I would try this on a test piece before attempting on your corner cupboard.
I have played with stain a little bit but must admit pine is my least favorite to stain. I tend to use a clear finish on pine and leave it like that.
I suspect you might be trying to match some other pieces in your house so have a play on some test pieces might be the best option.
