    Default .skp File

I have attached a .skp file and never having found SketchUp easy to deal with, I wonder if I should be able to find dimension data in the file. I have looked but the whole SU thing defeats me and always has.

    Default .skp file

    Hi Chris

If you open the file in sketchup, there is a tool in the toolbar that looks like a tape measure. Within that toolset there is an option to place dimensions on the drawing. Alternatively you can just use the "tape measure" to give a readout of the length between a start and end point.

    Regards

    David

PS You should also be able to change the units, e.g. from feet and inches to metric in the drawing settings.

I might get my son to do that, he is a Fusion user, my Fusion experience was a disaster the same as SU.

Fusion changed the rules for non commercial users today. Unless you are a paying customer or an educator you can no longer import .skp files

In that case, I'll email the fusion 3d converted file to you, Chris (the uploader here won't accept F3D files)

Thanks all for the interest and the file has landed so to speak. For interests sake the file is a revolving multi drawer hardware cabinet that used to be popular in US hardware stores to store small hardware such as nuts and bolts etc.
