Default Step up required for a larger vacuum hose

I have a small Makita sander model BO3700 with a dust outlet that takes a 22mm ID hose. I would like to build this outlet up to take the more readily available standard 32mm ID vacuum cleaner hose.
Does anyone have any suggestions on building up the 2 inch long outlet from 22 mm to 32mm, other than lots of masking tape or duct tape which is not really suitable for long term use.
    regards,

    Dengy

I've got the Festool sander. It has a 22mm ID and 27 OD outlet (roughly measured), looks about the same as your Makita. I got the rubber Festool fitting which is just a push on fit so it should be universal - works well.

It is the right diameter for a standard vacuum cleaner hose but I couldn't get it to fit quite right. I think because it is not as pliable as the Festool hose so I did use duct tape to secure the fitting to the hose (not to the sander), but it is size for size so its not a bodge.

I couldn't justify the price of the Festool hose but it is more flexible and I'm thinking that one day I might treat myself.
    Cheers, Glen

I had the same problem with my Makita ROS which has the same sized outlet as yours.

I used some electrical conduit that I had laying around to connect the hose.

Use a hot air gun to heat the end of the conduit and slightly enlarge both ends of the smaller conduit to fit over the port and into the bigger orange conduct which is exactly 32mm OD then glue the 2 together.

I still have plenty of the conduit here if you want some or I could make you one up and post.

Bunnings sell 1 metre lengths of high pressure water pipe 23mm ID, 26mm OD that would fit your 22mm sander outlet with a bit of tape or a larger O-ring on the outlet.

They also sell a straight join piece 45mm long 26.5mm ID, 33mm OD that goes snugly over this pipe, and with a bit of PVC solvent it is an airtight joint.

My new 32mm hose is a snug fit over that straight join piece, no clamp needed.

Both Hare & Forbes and Carba-Tec sell a stepped reducer that would work or if you have a commercial cleaning wholesaler near you they also carry a range of reducers.

I have today bought a black plastic threaded nipple (Plasson brand)from Bunnings for $1.80 that does the job very well. The inside diameter is 22mm and the outside is 32mm. It screws into the Triton dust collector cable quite snugly, and pushes onto the Makita outlet very nicely.
    It's 53mm long.

It was in a section dealing with agricultural waste pipe and flexible pipe - not in gardening, but close to plumbing.
It's marked as a 1" to 1" nipple, but I'm puzzled as to why, because I can't see that anything about it is 1".

It's for what they call nominal bore pipe sizes, pipe is measured inside, (nominally) meaning it doesn't actually measure 1" they say nominally because the wall thickness of different grades of pipe (schedule 40, 80, 120) and so on, will be thicker or thinner but will still be 1" pipe .....so your 1" nipple fits into a 1" pipe fitting of some sort, e.g. socket/valve/barrel union....tube on the other hand is measured on the outside and 1/2" tube will be 1/2", it to can have different wall thicknesses but will still be 1/2" on the outside......

It would of course also make a very good hose joiner for 32mm hose.
