Hi Jill,
There are 1/4 round mouldings along the side of each shelf which snuggle the bottom of the jars to stop them getting knocked out sideways and the draws do not get pulled out farther than in the photo. Stops could be fitted but I am just careful, although it is a worry. Have you ever had to sort nails or screw from the broken jar they were in? A lot of people will not use glass for that reason, those 1kg square plastic jars that preserved fruit is sold in are an option.

Thanks Hugh. Yes, since I saw your system, I rounded up all the Goulbourn Valley plastic jars and the Glucosamine plastic jars I had put away for a rainy day. Looks like that might be the way to go, although they do take a up a bit of space.
Have you put the sliding draws on runners and considered using rare earth magnets to hold the glass jars in place somehow? I use magnets to pick up screws that have fallen on the floorregards,

Hi Jill,
No they just slide on to the shelf with a smear of candle wax.The only draw back is if they get pushed to one side you end up with an unsightly 3/4" gap instead of the neat 1/8" between each one.

I love little draws, but I think the little compartments in one big draw would probably be more serviceable. At 's we (as in I )tend to up end the plastic container full of nuts or bolts onto the floor to find stuff. It is a rather magic box cos there always seems to be at least one of what you need.
