Stupid Question ... Please No Stupid Answer
Hey,
I know this question is like asking how long a peice of string is but I would like some help.
I am looking at making a new dining/kitchen table. The main focus of the table will be my grandfathers old drawing (drafting) board. The measurements are 900x1520. I understand that this is too small for a table top so I will need to make a surround and place the board in the middle. The stupid question is what is a good size, porportions for a kitchen table. I will be happy with a 6 seater but the boss would like a 8 seater.
Could I ask a favour and ask you to measure your kitchen tables and give me an idea of how large it is and how many seats it is. Also the height as well if possible.
Thanks.

A couple of years ago I (nearly) finnished my table which from memory is 2.1m long by 1.1m wide (.95m wide at the ends - fatter in the middle which is a great design as stuff in the centre of the table doesn't get in anyones way ).
This seats 6 very comfortably (just with normal deck chairs) and sits eight with room to move. As for height, I can't recall exactly but 760mm comes to mind - not sure whether it was to the underside or the top ?
I recall chairs varying height a fair bit so it may pay to measure them up first and then look at the best height for the table with the chosen chair.
