You can wear glasses, just don't wear contacts. Not sure why anymore but they can stick to your eyeballs from a flash I think.

Just as important is to not breath the fumes from galvanized metal. You may end up with zinc fever. Very ordinary every time I have had it. Just like a bad flu

Also DON'T have a lighter or matches in your front pockets when welding. As the sulfur tastes horrible and your nipples/crutch wont like it. Yes also from experience

These guys who take their glasses off to weld, must not need em real bad.
These days I might as well put a bag over my head for all I can see without glasses.

As fot Zinc flu.......heel If ya get a bad dose ya get an ache in the guts and dihorea as well.

With any welding...ventilate, ventiate, ventilate..none of the fumes are good for ya.

AND never use "brake cleaner" on items to be welded the fumes can be deadly.

    cheers
Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
    Most powertools have sharp teeth.
    People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
