Suggestions For Bench Design
Here'sthe brief - I have been offered a chance to build two benches for a local up market motel (up market for Esperance that is!~). One bench to sell to them and the other to go in the foyer with a promotion/advert type opportunity.
It must be Jarrah, i am guessin 1.8-2.4 long and I want to keep the design fairly simple yet more up market and classy than a Bunnings bench.
Due to the cost of Jarrah it is probably better if it uses smaller size timber where possible. I have an old bench at home that I acquired and restored from an Apex Club Hall. The design is incredibly comfortable (for a bench) but the leg shap is not too stable and lets face it - not pretty - I might try to borrow a camera and post a pic.
I want to take the best feature of that one - 40 x 19 strips onthe seat moulded to bum shape, and combine that with more stability and a touch of class - Maybe shaped vertical lumbar strips like on dining chairs?
Then of course there is the question to armrest or not to armrest?
Hit me with pictures ideas or links and remember that plagarism is a form of flattery!!
