    Default Suggestions wanted for filler

I have an interior wall external corner that needs a filler. In case I didn't explain that properly, I mean it's an external corner inside the house. Lol
At the corner, wallboard meets timber. In other words one wall is wallboard (villaboard I think but could be giprock), the other is timber.
I'm after suggestions for a suitable, sandable filler that adheres to timber. Some flexibility is also probably necessary.
I would normally use some sort of spackle on wallboard but it's not so good at sticking to timber.

I think "normal" for this sort of situation is to use a cover strip attached to the timber end grain to hide the gap.

I might try to expand on the explanation.
    I'm resurrecting a staircase.
It was completely covered with carpet. treads, risers and tread ends.
I'm going to cover it with a hall runner which means the sides will be exposed so I will paint the sides.
In the first photo you will see that the risers and the treads are the same length and both stick out past the wall by about 25mm.
I intend to cut the risers level with the wall and allow the wall colour to flow through along the front of the riser. I also intend to round off the tread corners.
It will be very difficult to cut the risers with cutting on a funny angle or damage the wallboard where it meets the timber riser so it will need patching.
The second photo is my attempt at an artists impression of the finished corner. Hmmm

In my opinion what ever you use, it will crack, I would post on the renovation forum, there is a plaster board fellow over there who knows his stuff can't remember his name (I have not been there for a while)
