    Might be a hard sell convincing SWMBO we need this in a single storey house, but I'll give it a try. Would take too much room in the shed, so the mezzanine will have to put up with boring stairs

    Yes I had a similar concern. So I suggested that I build a deck on the roof accessible from our bedroom.
    She said: 'Are you crazy?'
    I said 'Yes but let's stick to the topic. It would be a great feature.'
    Said rolled her eyes and relented. She said 'well only if it delivers you to the kitchen. I'm not having that at the front door.'
