Sydney WWW show
It's only 6 weeks away to the Sydney Working with Wood show. Has anyone bought any timber at one of these? If so, what were the prices like? Are there any genuine specials here?
Regards,
Mike.

I'm not sure if you'll get anything cheap, but you will surely find some choice timbers there.
It probably depends on how good a negotiator you are and the time you go.
Late on a Sunday will probably get you the cheapest deals but of course the choicest timbers will probably have gone early on Friday.
Depends what you are after I guess.
For myself, I'll be looking to buy wood rather than tools this year.

Www
Good Craig. The best time to get wood is on the Thursday, before the show opens, Mal from Boutique Timbers always has his regulars there then, and they pick the eyes from the stock, which is generally laid out on the wednesday. If you want any special types, let me know and I will arrange for him to bring stock.
Specials are always on Sunday after 3.00.
Regards
Greg

I am looking to buy an Incra dovetail jig.
Are they likely to be cheaper at the show, if so how much??

Probably not much cheaper.
Where you'll probably save is on freight. Provided one of the retailers actually brings some with them.

Bugger!!, I saw a giftkins jig at a show in Newcastle and he was offering a discount. I think it was around 20%.

Just noticed on the Carbatec web site, that CT Brisbane is having a clearance sale on the Incra jig.
$279 down from $339.
They do say no back orders so I guess they are just getting rid of existing stock.
Check out their web site.

I will be there on the Saturday most likely, demonstrating the scroll saw at the central coast wood turners stand.
Last year I picked up some thin pieces of jacaranda, mallee burl and camphor .. dont know if they were bargains but the prices seemed reasonable to me.Brett
