Table
image.jpgimage.jpg
Hey guys it's my dad's birthday on the second of June so I wanted to make him something this year not just buy him something and my grand pop (dad's dad) past away so I grabbed this board of timber in his shed and plained down some silky oak logs to make them squarish but I was wondering what everyone thinks?

Nice feet. And the table feet look good as well.
Now all kidding aside excellent job on the coffee table. Making something for someone is thousands times better than buying something.

Nice job ... he'll love it. Don't you just love book-matched boards/veneers?
Just a thought. What I sometimes do is post an outline design or thoughts on the job before I start, or before I get to a tricky bit, asking for ideas and advice. I always get new ideas and good advice that helps me make a better piece. For relative novices like me, this is a real bonus.
In fact, my very next post will be to ask advice on thicknessing wide boards, and I'll bet the brains trust here is full of great ideas.
Cheerio!
John
EDIT: The brains trust worked again. I got some really good ideas on how to dress wide boards that won't go through my thicknesser.
