table legs
i have made a table top 2.36 long. i have some 190 ml spotted gum that i was going to rip in half and use as a skirt underneath the top and onto a pine frame carcass. whats the best way to put some 4x4 legs on in this situation. can you picture it?

So, just to clarify:
1) your table top is 2.36 metres long
2) you want to put a single rail down the centre, lengthways, of the tabletop (spotted gum) (I'm not sure if you meant down the centre or just around all four sides)
3) you then want to connect that rail to a pine frame somehow, and are wondering the ways you could go about doing so?
My first thought is that you need to be careful doing any kind of joinery that will have lateral pressure on it (ie - the frame/rail joinery) if your frame is made of softwood (pine) and your rail is made of hardwood (gum).
How wide is your table top? Have you made the frame already? - If so, what sort of joinery did you use?
Just having a bit of trouble fully picturing your situation - if you can elaborate then I'm sure that many people more talented than I am will be able to assist.
As a general rule, I guess that the "normal" type of joinery you would use for a table top frame in joining the rail to the posts would be a mortise and tenon joint. If you do a search of these forums there will be more threads than you can imagine about that type of joint.Yes - I'm a lawyer.
No - I won't bill you for reading this.
