Table saw Panel cutting sled?
Hello,
I am new here, and have some woodworking experience however a rookie in comparison to many here. I have a table saw and need to make a "sled" panel cutter. The ones I have seen in the past ride in the cross cut guide channel and are quite large to handle 1/2 sheet of plywood etc.
Thanks in advance for any ideas,
Tim

For the members to help please supply a few details of your table saw with reference to size of table. An image is also worth a thousand words. Also what size sheets are you cutting down and to what size?

I will post a picture later today, it is a delta contractor model table saw. As far as dimensions I need to be able to handle a half sheet of material so starting 4' x 4'. I am looking to make one, I have seen them in the past but am hoping to see a picture here so I can duplicate it. It had a piece of hardwood that rode in the cross cut guide of the saw and a fairly large sheet of thin wood. It basically just make a larger surface for the material to ride on, larger than the cross cut guide currently provides.

I have a delta contractors saw and can manage half a sheet ok without a sled if I have some support for the out feed. I use a roller stand. You can also clamp a strait edge to the underside of a sheet and run the edge along the side of the saw table. You need to first check that the table edge is paralell to the blade for this to work Having said that a large sled would be better.
If you google table saw sled or cross cut sled you will find plenty of ideas.
Regards
John
